Many things are done to continually improve picking speed and safety. From pick from paper lists the development has gone through several fases from picking with hand scanners, pick-by-light, pick-by-voice and now pick-by-vision. In the clip to the left you can see more on how this works.

Internet of Things (IoT) is on wiki defined as a network of physical units, vehicles (also called "connected units" and "intelligent units"), buildings and other elements imbedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connection, making it possible for these objects to collect and exchange data.

IoT makes it possible to report back directly to another system (e.g. WMS) or remote control from WMS across existing network infrastructure. This makes more direct integration of the physical world in computer based systems possible, and results in improved efficiency, precision and economic advantages on top of reduced human intervention.

The use of IoT with WMS requires a system that can communicate with the surroundings with seamless integrations and a WMS system based on the newest technology.

In Axacon WMS we use latest JBoss Application server and the system can be flawlessly integrated with other systems with Axacon WMS standard integration interface integrating everything through flat file format, XML or web service. No matter what information is "sensed" with external sensors or taken from the internet, these can be imbedded in the decisionmaking process in WMS through integration.
